McConaughy Terrace is the largest family public housing development in western New Haven. Originally built in the 1940s on former farmland, this community was established in what was once a rural part of the city. As part of a comprehensive redevelopment effort, McConaughy Terrace will benefit from various forms of governmental assistance. This revitalization, under the Section 8 Rental Assistance Program, will utilize project-based vouchers (PBV) to ensure continued affordability for residents.
The redevelopment will preserve the existing buildings, blending new construction with the renovation of current structures, while maintaining the community’s legacy.
